Understanding Foundation vs Higher Tier

Parents often ask: “Which GCSE Maths tier is right for my child?”

  • Foundation Tier (Grades 1–5)
Focused on building confidence with core maths skills. Perfect for students who find maths challenging or need to secure that all-important pass.

  • Higher Tier (Grades 4–9)
Designed for students aiming for top grades. Covers more advanced topics and requires strong problem-solving skills and exam technique.

👉 Not sure which tier is best for your child? Our initial (free) consultation and diagnostic assessment will guide you.

How Our GCSE Maths Tuition Works

1. Initial Assessment & Consultation
We review past school reports and use diagnostic tests to pinpoint strengths and gaps. Parents receive a clear report and action plan.

2. Tailored Lessons

  • Foundation: focus on fluency, number confidence, and structured practice.

  • Higher: tackle advanced topics, reasoning, and exam-style questions.

3. Exam Preparation
We build exam technique step by step:

  • Timing and question selection

  • Worked solutions explained simply

  • Strategies for tackling tricky word problems

4. Confidence Growth
Every success in lessons builds belief, reduces anxiety, and motivates students to push for their best result.
