Online English Tutor – Reading and Language Intervention (Primary Ages 5-11)
LearningClubs seeks an enthusiastic and skilled English Tutor to deliver personalised online reading and language intervention sessions for primary-aged students (ages 5-11). This role involves working with children who need support in developing foundational reading skills, language comprehension, and written communication, through interactive and engaging online sessions.
Core Skills
Educational Background:

English Tutors should ideally hold a degree in English, Education, or a related field.

A teaching qualification (such as a PGCE or QTS) is highly valued.

Experience in teaching literacy or providing reading interventions to primary-aged students is essential.
Specialised Expertise:

Strong understanding of early literacy development, including phonics, reading fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary building.

Ability to design and adapt reading and language lessons to meet students' individual needs, ensuring progress in areas such as reading comprehension, spelling, and written expression.
Creating a Positive Learning Environment:

Skilled in creating a nurturing, supportive, and fun atmosphere during online sessions, ensuring young learners feel confident and motivated.

Focus on boosting self-esteem and developing a love for reading and language.
Communication Skills:

Effectively engage with both students and their parents via online platforms, providing clear and constructive feedback.

Strong English communication skills, enabling clear and confident instruction in reading and writing.
Requirements
Teaching Experience and Passion:

Proven experience teaching literacy or providing reading/language interventions to primary-aged children.

A passion for helping children overcome learning challenges and building their confidence in reading and language skills.
Wellness Mindset:

A child-centred approach, promoting student well-being and reducing any anxiety related to reading or language difficulties.
Technology Skills:

Proficient in using Zoom (or other video platforms) and online tools to deliver engaging and interactive lessons.

Ability to use digital resources such as online whiteboards and reading platforms to enhance the learning experience.
Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving:

Adaptable teaching style to meet each child's individual needs, using creative approaches to make reading and language accessible and enjoyable.

Experience working with students with learning difficulties, such as dyslexia, is a plus.

Schedule:

Flexible online tutoring schedule, with availability to tutor after school hours/weekends. Hours typically range from 1 to 10 hours per week, depending on your availability and student demand.
