Additional Information:

Chris has extensive experience working with students across a variety of educational settings, from KS2 to A-Level Further Maths and even degree-level maths for engineering students. His deep understanding of the subject matter is further enriched by his role as an A-Level examiner for pure maths every summer, a position he has held for years. In addition, Chris has a background in examining GCSE Statistics, which adds to his comprehensive grasp of the curriculum. He is also well-versed in teaching International Baccalaureate (IB) Maths and A-Level Physics, bringing a broad, interdisciplinary perspective to his lessons.

Chris is a self-professed statistics enthusiast, always keen to demonstrate the ways in which statistics shape our everyday lives. Beyond academics, Chris enjoys spending time outdoors mountain biking in Yorkshire, and is a proud dad of two. The focus and fresh perspective the outdoors gives me is inspiring and I strive to bring this mindset to my tutoring. He also loves building electric guitars in his spare time, bringing creativity and precision into everything he does.

Learning Styles and Needs:

Chris is a hands-on learner and applies this approach to his teaching. He encourages students to be active participants, ensuring that lessons are never purely audio or visual. Instead, Chris integrates tasks and interactive problem-solving to keep students engaged and thinking critically.

Experience with Neurodivergent Students:

During his time as a teacher, Chris often worked with bottom-set groups, where many students had additional learning needs. He approaches neurodivergent students with an understanding that their learning styles are unique, and doesn’t view conditions such as ADHD or ASD as disabilities but as opportunities to engage differently. Chris focuses on understanding and application over presentation, ensuring that students with different learning needs achieve their full potential.

Personally interviewed by LearningClubs:

Chris is one of our personally selected tutors, chosen for his strong subject knowledge and exceptional communication skills.

Enhanced DBS Check: Chris holds an enhanced DBS check, which is kept current through the Update Service, ensuring ongoing verification of his suitability to work with students.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

"So far I have really enjoyed having Chris as a tutor, I feel that he explains trickier questions very well and for smaller subtopics to help understand them within trickier questions, I feel this step is important as you end up understanding the fundamentals of the harder questions in more depth." (Student)

GCSE Grading

This video is quick - less than 3-minutes. It is packed with valuable information to empower your choices and your teen's choices whether to be registered in GCSE Foundation or Higher Tier.

The video was created by Tutor Chris, who is the lead tutor of LearningClubs GCSE programmes. In this video, he provides insight into the somewhat confusing GCSE grading system. Personally, I found one segment startling. Yes, startling!
